The Family Forever Home

Dual islands define distinct zones for preparation and gathering, reinforcing the kitchen as a primary space for daily living and entertaining.

The redesigned layout maximizes functional flow by thoughtfully utilizing each area of the bathroom.

Our newly relocated and spacious shower with glass panels to allow light to filter throughout entire space. Dedicated vanity with plenty of space and a perfectly scaled tub create an inviting and airy focal point.

A water vapor fireplace creates the warmth and ambiance of a traditional hearth without requiring fire-rated finishes, allowing greater design flexibility. Paired with framed display niches and interior openings, the feature becomes both atmospheric and architectural—adding softness, visual connection, and a contemporary interpretation of the living room focal point.

Mid-Century Revival

The seating area anchors the home’s central gathering space and reflects the project’s concept of connecting interior living with the surrounding preserved landscape. The design challenge was to create a comfortable environment for multigenerational gatherings while maintaining visual clarity within the expansive great room. Sofas and sculptural lounge chairs are arranged to foster conversation while preserving open sightlines to panoramic views and adjacent social areas. At the center, a custom coffee table crafted from naturally fallen trees introduces a sustainability narrative and reinforces the composition’s organic integrity. The reclaimed wood surface preserves irregular grain and natural character, celebrating the material’s life cycle. A handwoven rug grounds the seating group and adds layered texture that echoes the surrounding hills. Together, the furnishings balance scale, proportion, and tactile materials to create a welcoming, functional space that supports everyday living while strengthening the home’s connection to nature.

The picture window transforms the bar area into a quiet daily retreat, framing lush greenery like a living artwork. Positioned beside the coffee station, it brings natural light deep into the kitchen while creating a calm visual pause within the larger open-plan space—turning everyday rituals into moments of connection with the landscape.

A newly introduced light tunnel brings natural daylight deep into the once-dark bathroom, while the patterned floor tile adds softness, movement, and subtle vintage-inspired character to the space.

In the bathing niche, expressive oxidized blue-green tile, warm brushed-bronze plumbing fixtures, and a handmade patinated iron-and-crystal chandelier create a layered, modern sanctuary.

A custom dog gate keeps the clients' large Great Dane, Waldo, comfortably contained in the kitchen when they are away from the house. The gate was included as part of a whole kitchen remodel on which the designer consulted.

Traditional Italian venue was recreated into a breath-taking, organic, 22 foot long "Reef" landscape opposite new 20-seat Reef Bar woven into existing structural beams.

Viewed from the center of the bathroom, the spacious walk-in shower reflects the project’s strong focus on aging-in-place principles. The curbless entry, generous circulation space, and open layout were thoughtfully designed to provide long-term accessibility, comfort, and ease of use without sacrificing the room’s luxurious, spa-like atmosphere.

A prized Popeye glass sculpture anchors the room’s dramatic focal point, reinforcing Vin & Vision’s playful dialogue between collectible art, vibrant contemporary design, and the timeless ritual of wine appreciation.

The primary intervention in the living room is a custom floor-to-ceiling arched built-in casework wall — a new architectural element that transforms the flat space into the home's cultural anchor. Flanking stone-clad niches and an updated fireplace surround complete the transformation. Herringbone white oak floors and a vintage Murano glass chandelier layer depth and warmth throughout.

The natural linoleum floor adds graphic appeal, while the marbled texture softens the checker board pattern.

The open living space balances intimacy and flexibility, allowing the ADU to function independently while supporting gathering and everyday use.
